Construction difficulties causing town hall session to be rescheduled

The delivery of the New City Hall has been pushed back from December 1, 2025, to mid-September 2026. This delay is due to unexpected construction challenges and technical problems, as well as a change of ownership during the project phase.

Melissa Kemmerling, project management for the New City Hall, has confirmed that the city's preparations for the new wall installations and other measures within its responsibility are still on schedule.

The delay has also been attributed to coordination and handoffs between project partners being more complex than initially expected. These issues require further planning and additional construction measures by the landlord.

Mayor Frank Stein remains committed to creating a modern, digital, and citizen-friendly administrative center with the New City Hall. He emphasized that unforeseen developments are common in projects of this size and complexity.

A comprehensive status report will be presented to political bodies in the fourth quarter of 2025. The report aims to present the project progress, explain the reasons for the delay, and outline the next steps.

Despite the delay, the city's preparations for future occupancy, including digitization, e-file introduction, and organizational and technical equipment of the new work environment, are proceeding as planned.

The search results do not provide the name of the landlord who contributed to the delay in the handover of the New Town Hall.

Mayor Stein is excited about the prospects and development this project will bring to the city, and he remains optimistic about the completion of the New City Hall.
