In the picturesque district of Bobritzsch-Hilbersdorf in Central Saxony, the European Championship in Dog Frisbee is currently underway and will continue until Sunday. Over 400 handlers and their dogs from various countries, including Europe, North America, and Japan, have come together to showcase their skills in this unique and entertaining sport.

The sport of Dog Frisbee requires a unique level of discipline from both the dogs and their owners. Dog owners must keep their emotions in check to ensure precise timing for commands and throws, especially in the Long Distance discipline, where the player throws the disc as far as possible, and the dog should ideally catch it.

The special discs used in Dog Frisbee are manufactured specifically for the sport, lighter and softer than regular Frisbees. They have a diameter of 235 millimeters and weigh 110 grams, designed to be safe for dogs as they don't break or splinter when the dog bites into them. The discs come in sizes for both big and small dogs.

The camaraderie among the athletes is immense at the European Championship, with applause at every successful catch, even from the competition. The winners of the tournament have not been publicly announced, as the competition is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, in Halle, they're passionate about another form of Frisbee – Ultimate Frisbee. Considered one of the fastest team sports in the world, it is played professionally in clubs. An article about Ultimate Frisbee in clubs is available on the website SAXONY TODAY, while a regional report about the European Dog Frisbee Championship was aired on SAXONY - The Saxon Radio on September 4, 2025.

As the European Championship in Dog Frisbee continues, spectators and participants alike are in for an exciting weekend of competition, camaraderie, and canine agility.
