The LaserWeeder G2 600 outperforms a hand crew of 75 people in weed removal, making it a more efficient solution for farmers struggling with labour shortages. In the United States, more than 25% of edible crops are not harvested due to a lack of labour.

Carbon Robotics has rolled out over 150 LaserWeeders since its inception in 2018. The company's latest offering, the Carbon AutoTractor, is an autonomous retrofit for existing machines. It is designed to patrol fields and allows for easy human takeover in case of unexpected events like a deer wandering into the field.

The development of the LaserWeeder was led by Marko Bjelonic, the founder of Carbon Robotics. AI is likely responsible for counting the number of weeds taken out by the LaserWeeder, ensuring accurate data collection.

Efforts to remove powerful chemicals from farming are probably a good thing, and the LaserWeeder G2 600 is a prime example of a sustainable solution to a common farming problem.
