Company selects Howard Ungerleider for the position of Director
In a significant move, Air Products has announced the appointment of Howard Ungerleider as a Director, effective from September 1. Ungerleider, who brings over 30 years of experience in the chemicals and specialty materials industries, will also serve on the Audit and Finance Committee.
Ungerleider's career history includes positions at Dow and its predecessors, DowDuPont, and Dow Chemical. Most recently, he served as the Chief Financial Officer at Dow from 2014 to 2023. Prior to this role, he held various positions at Dow, including President from 2018 to 2023.
Wayne T. Smith, Chairman of the Board, stated that Ungerleider's extensive industry experience makes him a valuable addition to Air Products' Board.
Meanwhile, the company has also made changes to its leadership team. Sean Major, who served as General Counsel and Secretary, has resigned from his position. Matthew Lepore has replaced Major as Executive Vice-President, General Counsel and Secretary, and Chief Compliance Officer.
In addition, Megan Britt has been appointed as the new Vice-President of Investor Relations.
The appointment of Ungerleider comes at a critical time for Air Products. The company reported a GAAP EPS of $3.24 in the third quarter, marking a 4% increase. However, the earnings followed $1.7bn second quarter losses for Air Products. The company's sales for the third quarter rose 1% year-on-year to $3bn.
Ungerleider's expertise is expected to help Air Products navigate through these challenging times and drive growth in the future. As a member of the boards of directors of American Airlines Group and Kyndryl Holdings, he brings a wealth of knowledge and insights from diverse industries.
Howard Ungerleider's previous employer was Dow Chemical Company, where he served as Senior Vice President and President, Performance Plastics from 2011 to 2012, and Executive Vice President, Advanced Materials from 2012 to 2014. Since 2024, he has served as Operating Advisor for Clayton, Dubilier & Rice.
The appointment of Howard Ungerleider and the changes in the leadership team are part of Air Products' ongoing efforts to strengthen its governance and position itself for long-term success.
