Communique from Harpoon Brewery Unveiled
The College of the Holy Cross, a prestigious liberal arts institution located in Worcester, Massachusetts, founded in 1843, is home to a unique tradition – the Catalina Wine Mixer. This Saturday, the notorious dapper party is taking place, attracting students eager to let loose at the much-anticipated event.
One of the highlights of the Catalina Wine Mixer is the Holy Cross Hazy IPA, a beer brewed right on campus by Holy Cross Brewing. Contrary to some rumours, the beer is not made from discarded liquids underneath the conveyor belt at Kimball, but rather, it's a hop-forward brew with notes of Mount St. James runoff.
The beer, packaged in a purple-hued minimalistic can, has a 6 percent ABV and is marketed as suitable for inexperienced drinkers. However, it's important to note that the beer is not intended for underage drinkers.
The Holy Cross Hazy IPA, affectionately nicknamed "Dad Juice" due to its popularity with older men, has been the talk of the town. Its price has been increased, but many consider it worth the cost. Piper Guiney '28, a student at Holy Cross, is one of them. She's looking forward to the upcoming spring concert at the College, where rumours suggest the Barden Bellas may make an appearance.
The Catalina Wine Mixer is a time-honoured tradition at the College of the Holy Cross, with students dressing up each year to meet, hold hands, and sing. It's a night filled with camaraderie and excitement, making it a cherished part of the Holy Cross experience.
Contrary to some misconceptions, the Catalina Wine Mixer is not related to National Flossing Day, but it certainly leaves a lasting impression on all who attend. So, if you're a Holy Cross student, mark your calendars for this Saturday and get ready to join in the fun at the Catalina Wine Mixer!
