The Dresden Fire Department, under the leadership of Press Spokesperson Michael Klahre, was kept busy during the first day of the Canaletto City Festival. With a record-breaking 314 deployments, the team demonstrated their dedication and readiness to respond to any situation.

Despite the high temperatures and an expected increase in circulatory problems, the number of deployments remained below the level of the previous year. Most of these deployments were false alarms caused by automatic fire alarm systems or smoke detectors.

One notable incident involved a deployment that was called off en route as the person reported in the Elbe managed to get to the shore by themselves around 23:17.

The Fire Department was involved in a variety of tasks, including containing leaked hazardous materials, providing carrying assistance for the rescue service, and unlocking doors to provide medical care to helpless people in their apartments. In 83 cases, a doctor was called in.

On the medical front, a total of 37 patients were treated on the first day, with 12 individuals being transported to Dresden hospitals by ambulance. The range of injuries included circulatory problems, sprained joints, insect sting complaints, allergic reactions, symptoms of alcohol poisoning, and treatment after an altercation involving pepper spray.

Six intensive care transports and 178 qualified patient transports were carried out. Interestingly, in two cases, smoke detectors prevented a worse outcome by alerting the fire department in time due to burnt food causing smoke.

Fire department cadets were available with a fire engine to answer questions, and craft kits of the fire engine were available for little visitors to assemble on site and take home.

The Fire Department Dresden will be present at the Blue Light Mile at the Saxon State Parliament until Sunday.

The exact cause for the increased number of deployments by the Fire and Rescue Service in Dresden could not be identified. However, the team's swift and effective response throughout the festival underscores their commitment to keeping the city safe.
