Vodafone Expands Mobile Broadband Connectivity in Pfatter
Vodafone, a leading communication conglomerate in Germany, has announced the implementation of two new mobile radio stations in Pfatter. This expansion is aimed at eliminating coverage gaps and improving local mobile broadband connectivity for approximately 3,000 residents and visitors.
The new station in Pfatter marks the first time that these residents and guests will be connected to Vodafone's mobile data highway. This development is a significant step towards meeting the strong demand from the population for improved mobile data highways.
Tanja Richter, Vodafone's technical director, emphasised the importance of mobile communications for quality of life, local economy, and jobs. She stated, "Mobile communications are essential for various purposes, such as social media, HD video streaming, live events, and news consumption."
The new stations will enable emergency calls and disaster warnings, including the latest variants of AML and Cell Broadcast technologies. The automatic transmission of the caller's location to the emergency control center during an emergency call (AML) is also supported by the new station in Pfatter.
Vodafone currently operates 77 mobile communications stations in the district, with 75 equipped with LTE and 51 with 5G. The company plans to implement five more mobile communications construction projects in the district by mid-2026, with the goal of upgrading the remaining 26 stations without 5G to 5G sites, if technically feasible.
In addition to these expansion projects, network capacity will be increased by installing additional antennas for LTE and 5G at existing sites in other locations. Vodafone aims to be carbon neutral by 2025 and net-zero by 2040, and currently covers 100% of its electricity needs with renewable energies.
Vodafone respects and values all people regardless of ethnic origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, belief, culture, or religion. Diversity is deeply rooted in Vodafone's corporate culture, with offers for reconciling family and career, and networks for women, fathers, or LGBT+.
Vodafone Germany generates an annual turnover of approximately 13 billion euros with around 15,000 employees. The company's operations provide internet, mobile, fixed-line, and TV services.
The two new construction sites in Pfatter are expected to be put into operation within the next twelve months. These expansion projects aim to close gaps, strengthen the existing network, and further expand the 5G network into the district. The new station in Pfatter is part of Vodafone's strategy to meet the strong demand from the population for improved mobile data highways.
