Commercial trucks pulled off the highway on Halbbuschstraße in Wersten due to regulatory control over commercial road haulage. Several vehicles were temporarily taken out of service.
On August 18, 2025, the Düsseldorf Police conducted an inspection on trucks in an industrial park's access area. During this inspection, they discovered several vehicles with significant technical anomalies.
One of the trucks in question was a small vehicle with a permissible total weight of 3.5 tons. The company, whose identity remains undisclosed, was aware of the defects and still used the truck in public traffic. The inspection revealed that it was not in compliance with safety regulations due to the identified technical issues.
The truck's brake lines and stabilizers were found to have serious defects, classified as dangerous during the subsequent inspection by an expert. As a result, the vehicle was directed to a workshop for immediate repair, and further cargo transport was prohibited.
Another truck with an 18 ptw was found to have serious technical defects in the steering and braking system. The license plates were removed on the spot, and the registration certificate was confiscated. A 23-year-old driver from Neukirchen-Vluyn was suspected of driving under the influence of intoxicating substances. A blood sample was taken, and driving was prohibited until further notice for the young driver. A report was sent to the driver's license authority regarding the young man.
In a separate incident, a 30-year-old boss from Neukirchen-Vluyn threatened and insulted the police officers. A criminal complaint and an administrative offense report were filed against him. An administrative offense report was also filed, and a security deposit of 840 euros was imposed for the tractor-trailer driver.
Moreover, a seizure of assets was recommended in two cases due to serious and long-standing technical issues. The Düsseldorf Police are continuing their investigations to ensure the safety of public traffic.
