In the city of Bergisch Gladbach, a new initiative aimed at enhancing the safety of children and maintaining a high quality of life in the neighbourhood has been implemented. The KGS In der Auen school street, which commenced today, has been met with widespread approval from parents, children, residents, and local authorities.

Ragnar Migenda, the election officer and a responsible alderman in Bergisch Gladbach, expressed his approval for the school street. He emphasized the city's commitment to developing measures that meet a broad consensus, ensuring the approach to the school street is fact-based and pragmatically implemented.

During the closure times of 7:30 to 8:15 AM and 2:30 to 3:15 PM, the street in front of the school remained almost car-free. Motorized traffic was diverted to surrounding streets as planned, without significantly affecting traffic flow on the "In der Auen" street.

School principal Anton Pezl confirmed that both residents and the majority of parents welcome the measure. Moni Kellermann, chairperson of the school parents' association at the KGS, also expressed approval for the school street. Ragnar Migenda praised the openness and willingness to cooperate shown by the school, parents, and residents.

The start of the one-year pilot phase for the school street was smooth. Ragnar Migenda thanked all parties involved for their committed cooperation and expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the mobility expertise of the administration.

The city will continue to closely accompany the implementation of the school street. The goal is to make the school route safer for children while maintaining the quality of life in the neighbourhood.
