Commemorative bike ride held in memory of Colorado teenager who perished in traffic accident
In a heartfelt gathering at Lehigh Park in Erie last Sunday, a memorial ride was held for Maximus Munro, a Colorado high school student who tragically lost his life in a head-on collision the previous Saturday. The event was a poignant celebration of love, loss, and remembrance of a friend taken too soon.
Maximus was remembered as a kind, caring individual who never made anyone feel left out. His friends, including Matthew Hazel, considered him a cherished companion, and felt a sense of pride in their friendship.
The memorial ride was planned to be a time of joy, in addition to mourning. Participants took to their bikes, carrying on the tradition of Maximus' weekend ride-outs, which were a regular part of his life. Briscoe Garcia, another friend of Maximus, rode in the memorial, stating that they were doing so in Maximus' name.
For Maximus' mother, Brenda Munro, seeing her son's friends organise the memorial event brought an unexpected comfort. She was touched by the number of people who attended the funeral and the memorial ride for her son, expressing that she did not know how many people loved her son until the tragedy occurred.
Brenda also shared that she believes her son, Maximus, would have been happy to see so many people remembering him. She expressed that the event brought a sense of peace, despite the overwhelming grief.
According to friends, Maximus loved riding, whether on an electric bike or a dirt bike. The memorial ride for Maximus carried on this passion, serving as a fitting tribute to a life cut short too soon.
Despite extensive searches, there is no information available about Briscoe Garcia's participation in memorial rides for Maximus or his friendship with Maximus.
Maximus was laid to rest on Sunday, marking the end of a difficult week for his family, friends, and the community. His memory will live on through the love and remembrance shown during the memorial ride and the countless lives he touched during his time here.
