Two final-minute goals - Cologne manages to salvage Gladbach's terrible campaign!

The jubilation among Borussia Mönchengladbach fans at Borussia-Park after the 1:1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt was immense after the final whistle - the drop into the relegation zone was avoided on the penultimate game day of a truly dreadful season.

However, it became obvious that Borussia couldn't save themselves - they needed a three-pointer. Instead, it was their arch-rivals Cologne who provided some cheer for Gladbach fans with their two late goals and the 3:2 victory over Union.

Facts: Had Union (already leading 2-0) won, Seoane's team would have traveled to Stuttgart with only two points ahead of 16th place due to Mainz's unexpected 3-0 win over Dortmund on the final matchday...

Herrmann does not want to thank FC

Long-time combatant Tony Jantschke (34) commented: "The fact that we're happy about Cologne goals in Gladbach for once is somehow a great thing." And fellow player Patrick Herrmann (33) added: "We don't have to thank FC. But if other matches go as we need them to, then of course we'll take that too."

It was a season for Borussia Mönchengladbach to erase from memory, as they managed to avoid relegation with only the minimum goal achieved!

Captain Jonas Olkin (30) stated: "Being relegated is the good news, that was the absolute goal in the last few weeks. We made it by the skin of our teeth. We gave it our all, but not everything worked out. The pressure was extremely high, so we're extremely relieved."

It's clear that this season, with only 34 points thus far (the least in 13 years), requires thorough review!

Gladbach head coach Seoane confirmed: "We will take our time to discuss everything calmly and carefully consider the main points - not to look for mistakes, but to come up with solutions. Thus, we can have a strong team for the upcoming Bundesliga season."
