Collision between an SUV and a compact van in Rhinefelden, resulting in severe and minor injuries for the drivers involved
On September 28, 2024, an unfortunate incident occurred on the L143 road near Freiburg. At approximately 11:05 AM, an SUV and a small truck collided head-on between the Turbine Roundabout and the village of Karsau.
The drivers of both vehicles were injured in the collision. The driver of the SUV, aged 50, veered into the opposite lane for unknown reasons and collided with the small truck driven by a 54-year-old individual.
Both drivers were taken to a hospital with severe injuries. The driver of the SUV was extricated from his vehicle, adding to the gravity of the situation.
Following the collision, the section of the road was closed for accident investigation, vehicle recovery, and road cleaning. The road remained closed for approximately 5 hours until around 4:20 PM.
The Police Directorate Freiburg confirmed the incident, with Christoph Efinger, the current head of the Police Directorate, serving as the media contact person.
In addition to the rescue service, fire department, and police, a specialized company was on site for road cleaning.

The total damage from the collision is estimated to be around 13,000 euros, as both vehicles were totaled in the incident.
