Collaborative efforts between municipal authorities and urban government in social work matters
In the heart of Bavaria, TH Aschaffenburg is set to launch a new course of study in Social Work, with a unique twist. The university has entered into a cooperation partnership with the city administration of Aschaffenburg, providing students with a chance to gain real-world experience in municipal social administration.
The partnership, formalised by Mayor Jรผrgen Herzing and Prof. Dr. Eva-Maria Beck-Meuth, President of TH Aschaffenburg, offers internship places within the city administration. This collaboration aims to provide students with valuable insights into the Office for Social Services and other focus areas such as street work, youth social work in schools, child protection, stationary youth welfare, leisure activities for children and young people, offers for seniors, counseling in the areas of youth, family, people with disabilities, self-help, homelessness, care or over-indebtedness.
The new course, commencing in October, has already garnered significant interest. By the application deadline of July 15, 231 prospective students had applied for the course. In addition to the city administration, TH Aschaffenburg has also concluded cooperation agreements with the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) district association Aschaffenburg and the Caritas association Aschaffenburg city and district e.V.
Mayor Herzing expressed his enthusiasm for the new course, stating that it is an important step for the future regional recruitment of specialists. The city of Aschaffenburg is proud to be a partner for students in the Social Work course, offering them practical experience and a comprehensive understanding of the field.
