BAE Systems and Vodafone Partner to Enhance Mobile Security

In a significant move, BAE Systems and Vodafone have announced a five-year strategic collaboration agreement. The focus of this partnership is the deployment of unified communications technology, with a particular emphasis on mobile security.

BAE Systems' CEO, Ian King, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, stating that the technologies involved are subject to cyber vulnerabilities. He added that BAE Systems' subsidiary, Detica, can provide protection against current and future threats in the mobile marketplace.

Detica has been chosen by Vodafone to develop a cloud-based mobile security platform. This platform will safeguard against malicious attacks and block inappropriate content, with the new service being named Vodafone Mobile Threat Manager. Notably, Vodafone Mobile Threat Manager does not impact device performance.

The partnership between BAE Systems and Vodafone is not new, as Vodafone is already a Detica customer. According to a case study on Detica's website, Detica helped optimise the performance of Vodafone's mobile website.

BAE Systems has also chosen Vodafone as its supplier of mobile communications outside the US. As part of this partnership, Vodafone will provide services to BAE Systems' 35,000 UK employees from July 2013.

Ian King described the partnership as unique, bringing together a defence and security player with a major communications provider. The ultimate goal of this collaboration is to help global enterprises leverage future communication technologies in a secure manner.

Vodafone will offer the mobile security platform developed by Detica to its 1,500 enterprise clients. This move is expected to strengthen Vodafone's position in the market and provide its clients with enhanced mobile security solutions.

Despite extensive searches, there are no search results providing the name of the management employee at BAE Systems responsible for the cooperation with Vodafone on mobile security services. However, the impact of this collaboration is expected to be significant, with both companies set to reap the benefits of this strategic partnership.
