CoinPoker freezes $10K account after suspected cheating—user fights back on Reddit
A CoinPoker user recently took to Reddit to claim their account, holding 10,000 USDT, was frozen and banned without clear justification. The platform has since responded, providing evidence of suspected cheating through real-time solver assistance (RTA). This incident follows a wider crackdown on fraudulent activity, with over 1,200 accounts banned since October 2023. The controversy began when a Reddit user, 'Far_State_8335', posted about their frozen account in a thread titled 'CoinPoker Froze My 10,000 USDT Account'. They argued that the platform had failed to offer concrete proof for the ban. In response, CoinPoker Ambassador Mario Mosbock shared findings from a security report. It revealed that three hands played by the user matched inputs from GTOWizard—a poker solver—for identical board cards.
CoinPoker has emphasised its commitment to fairness, stating that all account investigations follow a strict internal review process. The company also redistributed the frozen funds to players affected by the suspected cheating. This aligns with their broader efforts to combat fraud, which include AI-driven behavioural analysis, machine learning for detecting unnatural play patterns, and blockchain monitoring to prevent multi-accounting.
The platform has taken similar action before. In late October, it banned accounts linked to seat-scripting technology, a move praised for its transparency. Professional poker player and WPT host Tony Dunst also commended CoinPoker's openness in this latest case. However, the incident highlights a common challenge for online operators: balancing transparency with the need to protect their fraud-detection methods.
Since October 2023, CoinPoker has intensified its anti-cheating measures, banning over 1,200 accounts suspected of bot usage or fraud. The company continues to develop tools aimed at quickly identifying and stopping cheaters. The banned user's funds have been redistributed to affected players, following CoinPoker's internal compliance procedures. The platform's response included public evidence to support its decision, reinforcing its stance against cheating. With over 1,200 accounts banned in recent months, the company remains focused on maintaining integrity through advanced detection systems.
