Clash Commences: Show Commences Airing
Gear up, poker enthusiasts! The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is back and better than ever, starting May 27 and running until July 15. This is the 46th edition, and it's bound to be epic, taking place yet again at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Sin City, Las Vegas, Nevada.
This year's lineup is packed with excitement. Several significant tournaments are in the schedule, each poised to make poker history.
New Blood on the Table
The Colossus, America's largest live poker tournament, is kicking off the series on May 29. At a buy-in of $565 and a guaranteed prize pool of $5 million, it's set to be one of the largest poker tournaments in terms of player numbers and unique entrants. previous records have been smashed during the WSOP Main Event in 2006.
For the first time ever, the WSOP will host an online bracelet event on WSOP.com. This $1,000 buy-in event, open to all Nevada residents registered on the poker site, will take place on July 2, and will play down to the final six players online. These lucky six will then battle it out live at the Rio on July 4 for the bracelet.
Hefty Pot-Limit Omaha Tournament
The history books will be rewritten again during this year's series with the most expensive pot-limit Omaha tournament ever. Last year, a $1,000 buy-in event attracted 1,128 players, making it the largest pot-limit Omaha tournament not featuring a no-limit hold'em event. This year, organizers are offering a high roller pot-limit Omaha event with a $25,000 buy-in. The tournament will play over four days at 8-max tables, with players starting with 75,000 in chips.
