Clash between baton and bar

The Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Police Orchestra is set to perform a unique benefit concert at the Schwerin Cathedral on April 26, 2009. This event, organised by the Schwerin Cathedral Support Association, promises to be an interesting and worthwhile evening.

Christof Koert, the new musical director of the State Police Orchestra, will be at the conductor's stand. He will be assisted by Mrs. Heidrun Mestemacher, the leader of the choirs. The concert will feature several choral and song arrangements, making it a special concert event.

The programme for the evening includes Schubert's "German Mass", specifically written for wind accompaniment. This mass will be performed in its entirety, with the famous "Sanctus" being a highlight of the choral pieces. Alongside Schubert's masterpiece, excerpts from Handel's "Water Music", an organ fugue by J.S. Bach, and Barber's "Adagio" will also be performed.

The State Police Orchestra will show a side of itself that has not been seen much before at the concert in the cathedral. With a repertoire that includes traditional brass music, musical melodies, film music, opera and operetta music, symphonic-concertante brass music, pop and rock titles, ballads, and swing titles, the orchestra is sure to deliver a varied and engaging performance.

Proceeds from the concert will be used for further measures to preserve the cathedral. Admission to the concert is free, but donations will be requested for the Schwerin Cathedral Support Association.

The State Police Orchestra, which is 60 years old, is responsible for representation and protocol tasks in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. For this special occasion, the orchestra will be joined by two choirs, the "Luther Choir" from Stralsund and the "Püte-Chor" from the communities of Püte and Niepars.

The concert is still scheduled to take place at the Schwerin Cathedral on April 26, 2009, as previously announced. If you're in the area, we encourage you to attend this promising event and support the preservation of the Schwerin Cathedral.
