Clark's infrastructure boom stalls as key projects lag behind schedule

Infrastructure projects in Pampanga and Central Luzon are facing mixed progress. While some developments under Clark Development Corporation (CDC) have sped up, others remain stalled or delayed. Meanwhile, local leaders continue their engagements, and concerns over road conditions persist across the region.

Since Arthur Tugade took over management of the Clark Freeport Zone in 2022, key projects have moved forward. Expansions like the SCTEX interchanges and new airport roads are set for completion by early 2026. This contrasts with earlier years under José 'Ping' De Jesús (pre-2016) and Noel Manankil (2016-2022), when bureaucratic delays and funding shortages slowed progress.

Yet not all initiatives are advancing smoothly. The construction of Bayanihan Park, also led by CDC, has been delayed for months. Work on the MacArthur Highway overpass has halted entirely. Meanwhile, the planned railway link between Angeles and Clark Freeport is moving at a sluggish pace.

Road conditions remain a pressing issue. Many major routes, including the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), are deteriorating, despite recent toll fee increases. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has been urged to speed up drainage canal construction along Angeles' main highways to improve safety.

Elsewhere, Pampanga Governor 'Nanay' Baby Pineda marked her 75th birthday with a well-attended celebration. Magbubukid Party-list Representative Ferdinand Beltran has kept up his schedule of farm visits nationwide for consultations. However, unresolved cases like the murder of Tess Mamac continue to weigh on the community, with the prime suspect still at large.

The region's infrastructure push shows uneven results. Some projects under CDC have gained momentum, while others remain stuck or unfinished. With calls for faster action on road safety and drainage, authorities face ongoing pressure to deliver tangible improvements.
