City's Strasbourg Mayoral Elections

In the Austrian region of Styria, a series of changes have taken place in the local elections.

The regional election authority will review the cases in Hausmannstätten, St. Marein, and Dobl-Zwaring individually, following appeals filed after the Styrian municipal council election on March 23.

In Graz-Umgebung district, the ÖVP emerged as the winning party with just under 43 percent of the votes. However, Robert Tulnik of the "Wir" citizens' list was allowed to remain as mayor with the support of the FPÖ.

In a surprising turn of events, Franz Tonner, a long-time farmers' association director and farmers' ball organiser, will now serve as mayor in Graz-Umgebung district, despite not holding the top spot on the ÖVP list. Tonner has chosen to call himself "People's Mayor" without any voting rights in the council.

Meanwhile, in Hart bei Graz, a new "People's Mayor" has been elected. No new information about this mayor, Franz Tonner, was provided in the available sources.

In Teufenbach-Katsch, Murau district, a half-time solution will be implemented in the mayor's office between the FPÖ and ÖVP. No new information about the FPÖ's role in the elections was provided beyond their involvement in this half-time solution.

Looking ahead, Christoph Stark is set to wield political power as the mayor of Gleisdorf, after being re-elected in the 2025 Gemeinderatswahl. Beyond Franz Tonner, Robert Tulnik, and the mayor-change in Teufenbach-Katsch, no other concrete political leadership figures in the Styrian municipalities have been named in the available sources.
