Peine Senior Council Organizes Trip to Showcase Restored Wilsleben Village Church

The Senior Council of the city of Peine has arranged an exciting outing for 50 senior citizens, inviting them to Aschersleben on August 22, 2025. The trip was designed to showcase the revived Wilsleben village church, a remarkable restoration project that has garnered a high monetary prize from the KiBa.

Upon their arrival in Aschersleben, the group was warmly welcomed by the city's Senior Council and Mayor Steffen Amme. The day began with a hearty breakfast prepared by the local women's association, setting the tone for a memorable experience.

The group's first stop was the Wilsleben village church, a place in need of restoration after reunification. With great dedication and support from the community, the church has been revived and transformed into a vibrant centre for all. Today, it stands not just as a church, but as a place for everyone.

As part of the trip, the senior citizens also had the opportunity to tour the festival grounds during their visit. The ASCANIA Horse Festival was in full swing, offering a captivating display of equestrian skills and local culture. Singer Regina Ross performed local folk songs, adding a touch of tradition to the festivities.

In the afternoon, the group visited the festival tent, where coffee and cake were served. After a day filled with exploration and celebration, they returned to Peine, having witnessed the remarkable transformation of the Wilsleben village church.
