Mayor Thomas Kufen's Busy September Agenda

Mayor Thomas Kufen of Essen has a packed schedule for September 2025. From attending community events to opening important initiatives, Kufen will be busy throughout the month.

Community Engagement

This weekend, Kufen will attend the Krayer Herbstfest 2025, the Fest der Vereine during the Krayer Herbstfest, and the 1st Quartierskonferenz "Stadtgespräche City.NORD" at the Kreuzeskirche. He will also reopen the 'Notenkiste' of the Schönebecker Jugend-Blasorchester and attend the open day of the Essener Elterninitiative zur Unterstützung krebskranker Kinder e. V.

Cultural Events

On Friday, 5th September, Kufen will open the Borbecker Market Festival in the Borbecker pedestrian zone and attend the "Kulturraum auf Rädern" radio play in Bus and Bussi on Ehrenzeller Platz. He will also attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the new "Schule an der Ruhr" at Mintarder Weg and the I do GmbH Thanks & Giving Event.

Education and Training

On Thursday, 4th September 2025, Kufen will open the German Energy Law Day 2025 at the Philharmonic in Essen. This event, taking place under his patronage, is an important occasion for discussing energy industry challenges, particularly the energy transition. On the same day, he will also open the training fair for the public service in Hall 12 on the World Heritage Site Zollverein.

Meetings and Speeches

On Monday, 1st September 2025, Kufen will deliver a speech at an anti-war event organized by the DGB Essen and the Essen Peace Forum. He will also meet with the Turkish General Consul Taylan Özgür Aydın at the Essen Town Hall and have a press conference and a meeting with the parish priest of St. Josef's Church, Dr. Esber.

Celebrations and Anniversaries

On Tuesday, 2nd September 2025, Kufen will chair the meeting of the administrative board of the city portal and attend the anniversary celebration of "30 years of Café Schließfach". On the same day, he will also visit the "Praxis Central Mitte".

New Initiatives

On Monday, 1st September 2025, Kufen will open the new GEWOBAU kindergarten "ZwergenReich BERGER LEBEN" at Maßmannweg.

Literary Festival

The organization hosting lit.RUHR 2025 in Essen from October 7 to October 12, 2025, is litissimo gGmbH. Tickets and the program for the event will be available starting September 3, 2025, at 1 pm. On Wednesday, 3rd September 2025, Kufen will attend the press conference for lit.RUHR 2025.

Wedding Ceremony

This weekend, Kufen will conduct a wedding ceremony.
