City of Nordhorn and GEWO collaborate on joint projects

The City of Nordhorn has launched a new partnership project with the housing association GEWO mbH to enhance senior counseling services. Located centrally at Platz der Einheit, a Senior Council advisory office has been set up within the GEWO premises. This new service enables older residents to receive on-site advice, such as on financial aid, care, housing, and daily life solutions.

Opening Hours

The initial opening hours for the advisory office are Tuesday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm (as of autumn 2023; please check locally for updates). An additional weekly opening is planned to expand the service.

Take advantage of this opportunity to receive personalized advice—a new resource for seniors in Nordhorn and the surrounding area is now available!

The City of Nordhorn's Senior Council's office at GEWO mbH is dedicated to offering voluntary counseling on senior-friendly housing and new construction projects. The representatives of the Senior Council provide advisory support to GEWO mbH in these areas.

Horst-Dieter Dörr, chairman of the municipal Seniorenbeirat, and Hermann Snyders, a member of the council, have been trained as volunteer housing advisors by Lower Saxony's Fachstelle für Wohnberatung. GEWO's managing director, Reno Schütt, has welcomed this cooperation with the Seniorenbeirat.

The housing advisors of the Seniorenbeirat aim to better understand and respond to the needs of elderly tenants. The first open office hour for GEWO mbH tenants will take place on Thursday, June 7, from 2 to 4 pm in the GEWO administration building at Stadtring 31. This office hour is expected to be offered regularly every week at the same time.

The City of Nordhorn's Senior Council's office at GEWO mbH is a novel partnership between the two entities, with the goal of facilitating collaboration and improving senior-friendly housing options in the city. The training program for volunteer housing advisors is funded by the Ministry for Social Affairs, Health, and Equality.
