The University City of Marburg has launched a new data and information service, "Marburg in Numbers". This service aims to gather and present data and statistics about Marburg, making it the most comprehensive municipal data dashboard in all of Hesse.

The service is accessible online and in mobile view, providing a user-friendly platform for citizens, politicians, media, companies, teachers, students, and researchers. It is organised into four areas: Environment and Climate, Life in Marburg, Economy and Work, Mobility and Traffic. These areas are further grouped under themes such as "Energy and Resources", "Education and Participation", "Local Economy", or "Individual Traffic".

"Marburg in Numbers" is based on existing solutions from the cities of Münster and Aschaffenburg. It integrates external live data such as weather, climate, and air quality data from the German Weather Service (DWD). The data used comes from the city administration, Stadtwerke Marburg (SWMR), the housing company GeWoBau, and regional statistical offices.

The data gathered includes population numbers, apartment construction, temperatures from 1853 to present, car registrations, e-scooter rentals, job numbers, commuter traffic, and more. The dashboard provides information on the development of publicly accessible E-charging points in the city area and the total charging capacity available. A diagram visualizes the fire department deployments, divided by types of deployment, under "Safety and Order".

The "Marburg in Numbers" data dashboard also includes data on the Marburg adult education center (vhs) and the city library. A link leads from the E-charging points section to the city's geoportal "Marburg in Maps", where the locations of the E-charging points are listed.

The implementation costs for "Marburg in Numbers" amount to approximately 12,000 euros (gross), with annual maintenance and operating costs around 1,500 euros (gross). The further coordination of "Marburg in Numbers" lies with the statistics department of the city's economic development.

Sign up for the newsletter of the University City of Marburg to receive regular important information from the town hall and city life directly to your email inbox. The data dashboard "Marburg in Numbers" is available for further use free of charge as a download, following the OpenData approach. Additionally, the city portal is available for adaptation under an open-source license for other municipalities.

Marburg has about 74,000 inhabitants; in recent years, several new residential buildings have been constructed, but exact figures on the number of newly built apartments in Marburg were not found in the given sources.
