City Center Pickpocketing: Incident Occurs in Frankenthal

In the city of Frankenthal (Pfalz), three pickpocketing incidents were reported in the city center on March 18, 2025, between 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM. The Frankenthal Police Inspectorate serves as a relevant contact point for any queries or information regarding these incidents.

For those who prefer digital communication, sending an email to [email protected] is an alternative.

The Ludwigshafen Police Directorate, specifically Stefan Heißler, a contact person within the Directorate, can also provide further details. The Ludwigshafen Police Directorate was also involved in a similar series of incidents, with the police director, Marco Weißgerber, leading the operational staff of the Rhineland-Palatinate police headquarters since March 1, 2025.

The incidents involved wallets containing cash and credit cards being stolen from handbags. The total damage from these incidents is approximately 1,000 euros.

To prevent becoming a victim of pickpocketing, it is advised to recognise potential pickpockets by their characteristic searching gaze and to avoid direct eye contact. It is also recommended to keep money, checks, credit cards, and papers in different, locked inner pockets of your clothing, close to your body, and to keep your PIN separate from your credit cards.

Additionally, it is suggested to carry handbags and shoulder bags closed and on the front of your body, or tuck them under your arm. Using a money belt, a belt pouch, a money clip, or a wallet chained to your belt can also provide an extra layer of security.

Press releases from the Rhineland-Palatinate Police are free for publication, but it is important to mention the source when publishing these press releases. The website for the Rhineland-Palatinate Police can be found at s.rlp.de/POLPDLU.

One victim provided a vague description of a possible suspect: a woman, approximately 170 cm tall, dressed in dark clothing.

Following these incidents, local police patrolled the city center to ensure the safety of its residents and visitors. For any further questions, the Ludwigshafen Police Directorate can be contacted via telephone at 06233 313-3202 or 0.
