City center eateries hit by late-night break-ins by thieves
In the heart of Bielefeld on August 27, 2025, one or more perpetrators targeted two restaurants, creating a stir in the city. The Bielefeld Police are currently investigating the incidents and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
According to the latest updates from Polizei Bielefeld, transmitted via news aktuell, the first restaurant burglarized was located on Mauerstraße. The intruder entered through an open window on the left side of the building, around 4:00 AM. Upon entering, the burglar searched the bar area and made off with the cash register. The burglar then exited through the entrance, disappearing in an unknown direction.
The second restaurant, situated on Goldstraße, had a different story. Here, the method of entry remains unknown. However, it appears that the burglar attempted to force the window open, only to knock over a stack of dishes on the windowsill in the process. The noise seemed to deter the burglar, and they did not proceed with the burglary.
The Bielefeld Police are urging anyone with information regarding these incidents to contact them at Criminal Investigation Department 13, phone number 0521/545-0. Alternatively, outside of office hours, contact the Control Center at 0521/545-0.
It is suspected that the same perpetrator may have attempted to enter another nearby restaurant, but this has not been confirmed.
