City athletics field "Gorla" reemerges under joint management of Fidal provincial and Cus entities.

The Gorla athletics field, located in the heart of the city, has been reopened for competitive activity following a comprehensive renovation. The project, which took longer than expected, saw the duration extend from the initial 120 days to 555 days.

Despite the extended timeline, the renovation allowed for the preservation of a unique piece of equipment: the 100 meters of track reserved for winter bob and skeleton training. This historic feature has been meticulously maintained, ensuring its continued use for future generations.

The renovation works, funded by PNRR, also included the updating of the track, the construction of modern changing facilities, and the creation of a multi-purpose court for basketball and volleyball.

The Gorla field is now under the management of a temporary joint venture between local FIDAL and Cus Piemonte Orientale. This experimental management phase will last for the next three weeks, during which the field will operate with extended hours. From Monday to Friday, the field will be open from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM, and on Saturdays, it will remain open until 7 PM.

Access to the Gorla field is free for the disabled, schools of all levels, and athletes of national interest. However, a medical certificate for sports activity is required for all users. The use of the field will follow regulations approved by the City Council to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

The University Sports Center is also involved in the management of the Gorla field, ensuring its continued commitment to promoting sports and physical activity in the community.

The renovation of the Gorla athletics field was overseen by sports official Pasquale Abbio, a former marathon runner. His expertise and dedication have ensured that the field is not only visually appealing but also meets the highest standards for competitive athletics.

With the Gorla field now open, the city's sports community can look forward to a new era of athletic competition and physical activity.
