City and Church Scheme Economy Transition: Pforzheim City and the Evangelical Church Consent on Business Transfer
In a move aimed at securing kindergarten places at their current locations, the city of Pforzheim has announced its intention to take over three kindergartens from the Protestant Church. The Deichlerweg kindergarten, the Schlossberg kindergarten, and the Sonnenhof kindergarten are set to be transferred to the city from January 1, 2019.
Mayor Peter Boch, in a statement, expressed that the cooperation between the city and the Protestant Church has been very trusting and solution-oriented. He emphasized the importance of being able to continue to employ the employees in the three kindergartens.
The takeover is a business transfer according to § 613a of the Civil Code. Two of the kindergartens are municipal buildings, while the third is rented by the city building company. The city is also investigating whether the Protestant kindergarten in Huchenfelder Straße, Dillweißenstein can be taken over by the city building company.
To ensure a smooth transition, information events for parents and employees of the kindergartens will take place in September. The announcement before the summer break is intended as a signal to the staff and parents not to worry anymore.
The planned takeover aims to secure the kindergarten places at their current locations. The city is also examining a plot of land at the entrance to Dillweißenstein as a possible location for a new kindergarten.
Jens Adam, deputy dean of the Protestant Church in Pforzheim, assures that solutions will be found for other locations as well. It is worth noting that the agreement for the transfer of these kindergartens still requires approval from the city council.
