Church Update for September: Service Details and Noteworthy Developments

The Evangelical Church District of Meiningen has an exciting lineup of events scheduled for September. Here's a rundown of what's in store.

September 1: Kicking off the month is a special service on the school grounds to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the EVG Meiningen. Additionally, Lukas Kloppel will begin his service on the B-church musician position in Zella-Mehlis/Oberhof.

September 5: A service titled "Touched – Life Experts Speak" will take place at the Walldorf church building at 7:30 PM. This event will feature reflections on the theme "1990 - blooming landscapes? 35 years of German unity" with guest Roland Weidner and musical accompaniment by church musician Ulf Prieß and band.

September 6: An excursion to Gotha is on the agenda, including a visit to the Friedenstein Palace Museum and a short service of organ music in the Augustinian Church. Registration for this event must be made by August 31.

September 14: Heritage Day will be celebrated with numerous churches opening their doors and the Grabfeld cycling tour taking place in the Grabfeld region. Climbing the church tower will also be possible during these Wednesday afternoons. More details about Heritage Day can be found at www.grabfeld.de and www.tag-des-offenen-denkmals.de.

September 15: The next singing evening is on September 15 at 7 PM in Walldorf (Pfarrgasse 8), and the children's musical "The Golden Calf" will be performed in various churches in the Meiningen church district throughout September.

September 19: An organ concert with Matthias Grünert will take place at 7 PM in Neubrunn.

September 27-28: The Golden Autumn - Festival of Ancient Music Thuringia will take place in Meiningen.

Throughout September: The Sundays after Trinity will focus on a particular aspect of how faith in the triune God unfolds. The Harvest Thanksgiving Services will be published shortly on www.kirchenkreis-meiningen.de. From late September to mid-October, harvest thanksgiving services will be held in the communities.

October 11-19: A youth and family vacation will take place in Ireland.

Training and Registration: The KiLeiCa training, which covers topics such as leading games, resolving conflicts, and planning programs, will start in October, preparing individuals for working with children. Detailed information and the link for registration can be found at www.kirchenkreis-hildburghausen.de and www.evangelischejugendwerratal.de.

Elections and Message: New church council members will be elected in the EKM in the fall of 2025, and Superintendent Beate Marwede has sent a message expressing hope in times of crisis, citing God as the source of strength.

Community Involvement: Many communities donate their harvest gifts to the Meiningen food bank, and the food bank is happy to receive long-life food such as sugar, flour, rice, pasta, and canned goods. The donations of long-life food from the harvest festival help the food banks in the weeks when there are few food donations from the markets.

The church district's services can be found on the website www.kirchenkreis-meiningen.de, and to prepare and conduct the elections well, it's worth taking a look at www.wahlen-ekm.de.

On September 14, a jubilee service to celebrate the 1200th anniversary of Bibra will take place at 10 am in the church of Bibra. Cantor Ulf Prieß offers monthly singing evenings in different church communities to learn modern church songs.

In conclusion, September promises to be a busy and enriching month in the Evangelical Church District of Meiningen, with a variety of events, services, and training opportunities for all ages.
