Christie Unveils Eclipse G3: The Next Generation of High-End Visual Performance

Christie, a leading innovator in visual solutions, has announced the launch of its latest offering - the Eclipse G3. This third generation of Christie Eclipse technology is designed for applications that require immersive, true-to-life experiences, such as ultra-high-end home theatres, planetariums, and themed attractions.

Larry Paul, executive director of technology and custom solutions at Christie, has stated that the Eclipse G3 can display true black without any residual light, offering the richest visual experience in fully light-controlled environments. The projector supports up to 120Hz 2D and active 3D at up to 60Hz per eye at native 4K resolution, and boasts a colour gamut of approximately 98% of the Rec. 2020 colour palette. Advanced HDR performance is another key feature of the Eclipse G3, which offers sequential contrast ratio of up to 20,000,000:1.

Attendees of the upcoming CEDIA Expo, to be held from September 3-6 at the Colorado Convention Center, will have the opportunity to get a close look at the Eclipse G3. The projector will be paired with home theatre projection screens from Seymour-Screen Excellence as part of a setup valued at over $1m. Some of the static projectors on display will include an M 4K25-RGB pure laser projector, a 4K1600-JS Jazz Series 1DLP laser projector, and a 4K860-iS Inspire Series projector.

Christie will also be showcasing its LED solutions at the ASCENDO booth 4312. Attendees can experience a four-by-nine tile array of MicroTiles LED in a 0.75mm pixel pitch, as well as a 163in diagonal 0.9mm pixel pitch Core Series III UHD LED video wall. The MicroTiles LED array in the booth will showcase visual performance driven by 24-bit internal processing and support for 4K@120 Hz.

In addition, Christie will be demonstrating a CP4425-RGB pure laser cinema projector with VDR technology in SR10 at the CEDIA Expo. VDR is a patented technology that enables Christie CineLife+ Series projectors to analyse incoming video frames in real time and compute and modify the output laser power as needed.

The exact price of the Christie Eclipse G3 projector in 2021 is not publicly specified. However, its inclusion in an ultra-high-end home theater setup valued at over USD 1 million indicates that it is a very high-cost professional device.

With the Eclipse G3, Christie continues to push the boundaries of visual technology, offering a truly immersive and high-performance solution for a wide range of applications.
