Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to Visit Karnataka on August 29

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will embark on a day-long visit to Karnataka on August 29, starting in Mysuru and concluding in Bengaluru. The visit aims to highlight the contributions of institutions under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in research, innovation, and technology transfer.

The visit in Mysuru will begin with the Minister attending the 110th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji at Suttur Math. Afterward, he will take part in a tree plantation drive, marking his commitment to environmental conservation.

Following his visit to Mysuru, Shivraj Singh Chouhan will travel to Bengaluru. The focus of his visit in Bengaluru will be on key institutions under the ICAR, including the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), the Central Silk Board, and the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI).

At the National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology and Disease Informatics (NIVEDI), the Minister will hold discussions on the progress and challenges of ICAR institutes in Bengaluru. NIVEDI, which is engaged in disease surveillance and national control programmes for PPR, Brucellosis, CSF, FMD, and LSD, is also involved in developing disease forecasting systems, conducting economic impact studies, and advancing the One Health approach that links human and animal health.

During his visit, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will meet progressive farmers who have benefitted from NIVEDI's technologies and training in Bengaluru. He will also address a workshop of livestock rearers and visit the National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources (NBAIR). At NBAIR, the Minister will plant trees, tour the National Insect Museum and Live Insect Repository, and view exhibitions on biological pest control and related technologies.

The visit provides a platform for startups, farmers, and livestock keepers to share their experiences directly with the Union Minister. Local MPs and MLAs are expected to join the programs in Mysuru and Bengaluru.
