The image shows a graph on a white background with text that reads "U.S. Trade in Goods with China". The graph displays the number of US trade in goods with China over a period of time, with the x-axis representing the years and the y-axis indicating the amount of trade. The graph is divided into two sections, one for imports and one for exports, and each section is further divided into different colors, indicating the different levels of trade between the two countries.

China warns US military moves in Venezuela and Iran signal global shift

Chinese foreign policy experts have raised concerns over recent US military actions in Venezuela and Iran. They see these moves as part of a broader shift in American strategy—one that could destabilise the Indo-Pacific region and threaten China's interests.

The experts argue that the US attack on Venezuela marks the beginning of a push for global dominance, including in the Indo-Pacific. They warn that Washington's growing reliance on coercive power rather than established international rules poses serious risks for Beijing.

Some analysts even suggest that the strike on Iran could foreshadow future US aggression towards China. If other countries in Asia-Pacific follow America's lead, they might adopt more assertive military stances, further complicating China's regional position. The erosion of the liberal international order, they claim, brings dangers rather than advantages for China. One key concern is preventing allies like Japan and the Philippines from becoming what they describe as 'Israels in the East and South China Seas'. The Trump administration's use of force, they add, is making the global system far less predictable. For Beijing, the challenge now lies in countering what it views as a US-driven division of the world into competing spheres of influence.

China's foreign policy experts believe the US is moving towards a more confrontational approach in international affairs. This shift, they say, could force Beijing to rethink its strategies in the Indo-Pacific. The potential for increased military tensions and a fragmented global order remains a major point of concern for Chinese analysts.
