Global Powerhouses China, India, and Russia Pursue Enhanced Alliance in Response to Worldwide Transformations, According to Lavrov

China, India, and Russia aim to strengthen their alliance in light of global changes, according to Lavrov.

In recent times, the international stage has seen a significant development in the relationships between India, Russia, and China. This partnership was highlighted at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Tianjin, China.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that China, India, and Russia are developing a mutual partnership. Lavrov's comments were made in an interview with Russian State TV. He emphasized that the common interests of the three countries lie in economic growth, social issues, and improving living standards.

The leaders' public display of unity at the SCO summit attracted worldwide attention, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese leader Xi Jinping making headlines with a triple handshake and huddle. A video of Modi and Putin strolling hand in hand towards Xi, and the three of them forming a close circle, went viral on social media.

However, US President Donald Trump's remark about losing India to China coincided with a deterioration in ties between Washington and New Delhi. Trump expressed concerns about India and Russia aligning with China, stating it as a loss to the West. In response, he raised tariffs on Indian imports to 50%, including a 25% additional duty for India's purchase of Russian oil.

Despite these concerns, experts believe that India will maintain its democratic independence despite closer ties with Russia and China. Dr. Aleksi Maslov, the director of Moscow University's Africa-Asia Institute, believes that the troika's bilateral interactions will deepen. Maslov emphasized that India is a significant democracy in Asia, distinct from Europe and with its own set of decision-making processes.

However, a leading oriental specialist in this country has dismissed the idea of a close-knit RIC (Russia, India, and China) discussion. Lavrov acknowledged that while there are common interests, there are also differences that remain. He stated that the deepening of bilateral interactions will not mean that everything is 100% the same between China, Russia, and India.

Experts like Maslov believe that the relationships between India, Russia, and China will deepen particularly in the areas of global governance and world politics. This development is expected to have significant implications for the global political landscape. As these relationships continue to evolve, it will be interesting to see how they impact the balance of power in the international arena.
