Child triumphs over cancer, granted dream trip to Disney World by Make-A-Wish foundation.
Little Fighter Holly Carter Beats Cancer and Heads to Walt Disney World
In a heartwarming turn of events, Holly Carter, a 5-year-old from North Carolina, has successfully recovered from a devastating diagnosis of stage four Burkitt lymphoma. After a challenging time for the family, the Carters are now preparing to celebrate Holly's recovery in a big way, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Holly's mother, Kelsy Ross, shared the news with ABC Raleigh affiliate WTVD, expressing her gratitude towards the Make-A-Wish Foundation for their role in making the celebration possible. The family will be embarking on a trip to Walt Disney World, a dream come true for Holly and her loved ones.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation, a donor organisation that grants wishes to children with critical illnesses, has been patient, kind, and understanding throughout the process, according to Ross. The family is forever grateful to the Foundation for their generosity.
Holly's health started to deteriorate suddenly in February while she was at preschool. Initially, doctors believed she had a stomach virus, but later diagnosed her with stage four Burkitt lymphoma. Holly underwent chemotherapy as part of her treatment, and remarkably, she is now cancer-free after only three months of treatment, which was initially expected to last for eight to 12 months.
Ross stated that the news was the best feeling in the world, and she couldn't stop crying and thanking God for the recovery. Holly, who also has autism and is non-verbal, has been a fighter throughout her treatment, and her family is looking forward to celebrating her victory over cancer.
The specific details about the celebration plans were not provided, but the family's upcoming celebration includes a trip to Walt Disney World, courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Walt Disney Company, the parent company of the ABC station, was not mentioned as a direct contributor to the trip.
As Holly and her family prepare for their trip, they are filled with hope and gratitude for the support they have received. The journey has been difficult, but the Carters are ready to embrace the joy and magic of Walt Disney World as they celebrate Holly's recovery.
