Charity Ice Hockey Match for Injured Personnel Recognized in Polls

The city of Cologne is gearing up for a unique event on June 4th, as the Cologne Fire Department's ice hockey team, Backdraft Cologne, takes on the Cologne Police team, Bull Sharks Cologne, in a charity match at the Cologne Arena 2, located on Gummersbach Street.

The game, which will kick off at 3:30 PM, is a response to a previous incident where colleagues were injured in Ratingen on May 11th. The proceeds of the event will be donated to the Fire Protection Promotion Association in Ratingen e.V. and the Police Foundation David + Goliath.

Police President Falk Schnabel and Mayor Andrea Blome will be in attendance, and both have expressed their appreciation for the teams' social commitment. Mayor Blome sees the match as a sign of solidarity and compassion towards those affected in Ratingen.

In a joint statement, President Schnabel and Mayor Blome thanked the players for their solidarity and team spirit. They will be available for interviews at 3 PM, along with representatives from both teams, who will also be available for interviews after the game.

The Cologne Police Social Welfare Association e.V. has pledged to donate 100 euros for every puck, regardless of which goal it lands in. A collection box will be available at the entrance for those who wish to donate further.

Media representatives are cordially invited to attend the game, and press inquiries can be directed to the Cologne Police Headquarters Press Office. The contact details for the Press Office can be found on the event's official website, https://koeln.polizei.nrw.

Verbal violence against emergency services is also a concern, with both officials expressing shock at such behavior. The event aims to promote a positive and supportive atmosphere, encouraging the community to come together in support of our hardworking emergency services.

We look forward to seeing you at the Cologne Arena 2 on June 4th for a game that promises to be both exciting and meaningful. Let's show our support for our emergency services and come together to make a difference.
