Charity Event, Supporting Walton's Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Continues September 19-21
The Assumption Festival, a cherished annual event in the heart of Liverpool, is set to return from September 10 to September 21. This year's festival promises a week filled with fun, food, and entertainment for all ages.
The festivities kick off on Saturday, September 20, with the event opening its doors from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. The day will be packed with a variety of activities, including amusement rides, kids games, bingo, blackjack, and hi-lo. For those seeking a taste of local flavour, Brothers BBQ, wood fire pizza, wine and margaritas, funnel cakes, and more will be available.
Musical performances will take centre stage on the Main Stage. Jim & Valerie Gabehart will perform from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., followed by Easter Rising from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The musical lineup also includes JD and the Stonemasons, Rick George Band, Sam Dearie, and the Nies family.
Strolling magician Brett Sears will add a touch of mystery to the event, performing from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Our Lady of the Assumption priests may also entertain the crowd with folk tunes and Tamburican classics.
For the more adventurous, a zip line will be available, and traditional Catholic festival activities such as emu petting and ping pong ball toss rides will also be on offer.
On Sunday, September 21, the festival continues from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The day will feature performances by Rick George Acoustic at 3 p.m., Magician Brett Sears at 2 p.m., and the Dearie Nies Band at 5 p.m.
The Car, Truck and Bike Show will take place on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with registration starting at 10 a.m. The day will also see sweepstake drawings for Side of Beef, Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon, Gun and Cash Prizes up to $10,000.
Nuns from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy for girls will be selling homemade bourbon balls and raffle tickets for Pappy Van Winkle. They will also host a Sunday auto show.
Boone County Commissioner Chet Hand may serve complimentary home-grown hot peppers at the beer tent. The festival is located about 20 miles south of Cincinnati off I-75.
All festival proceeds will go towards the church and schools. Admission and parking are free, making it an affordable and enjoyable day out for the whole family.
