Certain VW Tiguan Models May Experience Lethal Vibrations
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a recall for a select number of 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan models, following an investigation into a potential safety concern.
Volkswagen has identified that a small percentage of Tiguan models built between April 17 and May 28 of this year may experience a rattling sound coming from the rear, due to incorrectly torqued rear tie rod bolts. This issue was discovered after the German automaker received a report of a potentially damaged rear axle in another market on June 18.
The recall affects a total of 15 Tiguan vehicles in the United States. The vehicles with the faulty rear control arm bolt were manufactured at the Flint Assembly and Michigan Assembly plants.
Despite the recall, Volkswagen has not reported any crashes, fires, injuries, or fatalities connected to the problem. However, the recall is still considered serious, and the company is taking immediate action to rectify the issue.
To correct the problem, dealers will replace the affected tie rod bolts at no cost to owners. Dealerships were notified of the recall on August 15, and owners of affected Tiguan models will be contacted by October 10.
The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan only landed in the US earlier this year, and it's worth noting that the outgoing Tiguan was Volkswagen's best-selling model in the US last year.
The recall is not related to any other issues with the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan. Volkswagen is handling the recall through its dealerships, and the company assures customers that it is committed to ensuring the safety and satisfaction of its customers.
The investigation found a potential issue with the bolts used for the rear tie rods that may come loose or fracture over time. This could potentially compromise the vehicle's handling and stability, making it a serious safety concern.
Owners of affected Tiguan models are urged to follow the instructions provided by Volkswagen and their local dealerships to ensure the safety of their vehicles. This recall underscores the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and adherence to manufacturing standards.
