Ceremonial gathering at Hague Town Hall for fresh law enforcement and administrative personnel

In the heart of Hagen, at the city hall, a significant milestone was reached on August 29, 2025. The Hochschule für Polizei und öffentliche Verwaltung Nordrhein-Westfalen (HSPV NRW) (University of Police and Public Administration NRW) celebrated the graduation of 188 students from the Police Service (PVD) and 97 from the Municipal Administrative Service (KVD).

This event marked the culmination of a program designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the police, state administration, municipal administration, and pension insurance. The HSPV NRW offers six bachelor's degree programs: Administrative Informatics (B.A.), State Administrative Service - General Administration (LL.B.), Police Service (B.A.), Municipal Administrative Service - General Administration (LL.B.), Municipal Administrative Service - Administrative Business Administration (B.A.), and Pension Insurance (LL.B.).

The graduation ceremony was graced by the presence of Hagen's Mayor, Erik O. Schulz, and Police President, Ursula Tomahogh, who delivered welcoming remarks. The top graduates of the year were also recognised during the ceremony.

The event was not just about academics. The group "Ich und Du" provided musical numbers to add a festive touch. Imam Turan, a representative of the three major religions, also spoke at the ceremony, reflecting the diversity of the student body.

The HSPV NRW extends beyond Hagen, with graduation ceremonies held across the state in August 2025. The organisation offers a dual study program at nine study locations for approximately 14,400 students.

HSPV Vice-President, Prof. Dr. Iris Wiesner, emphasised the importance of academic qualification in the context of the graduates' future tasks. She stressed the significance of the knowledge and skills they have acquired during their studies, which will undoubtedly serve them well in their professional lives.

Approximately 3,500 students from the HSPV NRW completed their dual studies and received their bachelor certificates in August 2025. This is a testament to the institution's commitment to providing quality education and preparing students for successful careers in public service.

The HSPV NRW graduation ceremony in Hagen was a celebration of academic achievement, diversity, and the beginning of new careers in public service. The graduates, armed with their new degrees, are ready to make a difference in their communities.
