Central Customs Office in Braunschweig: Solemn Pledge upon Entry
The Hauptzollamt Braunschweig welcomed 28 new recruits on September 1, 2025, marking the beginning of their careers in the customs service. The ceremony was a blend of tradition and excitement, featuring a piano performance of the German national anthem, a procession of the new recruits, and a speech by Mrs. Senior Government Councillor Kerstin Müller.
Mrs. Müller, who was recently appointed as the permanent representative of the Main Customs Office management, emphasized the generational change taking place and welcomed the new colleagues to their new roles. She highlighted the secure jobs and varied tasks that the Customs Office offers, making it an attractive choice for those seeking a challenging career.
The new recruits had the opportunity to explore equipment vehicles and even witnessed a demonstration by customs dog Berta. The outdoor program provided a practical insight into the day-to-day operations of the Customs Office.
During the event, an advanced trainee from the 2024 intake spoke a greeting to the new recruits, offering words of encouragement and advice for their journey ahead. The departments and interest groups of the Main Customs Office were also set up for the new recruits to get to know each other and start building their professional networks.
