Celebration of Graduates: Distribution of Culture Certificates at FSJ
In the heart of Baden-Württemberg, the city of Pforzheim is set to offer eight positions for the Voluntary Social Year (FSJ) in the field of culture during the 2018/19 year. One of these positions will be at the Communal Cinema, with the remaining seven yet to be specified.
The FSJ culture, managed by the State Association for Cultural Youth Education Baden-Württemberg (LKJ) since 2007, has become an integral part of the cultural landscape in Pforzheim. This year, the city will join the ranks of over 195 placement sites across Baden-Württemberg, a number that has grown significantly since the program's inception in 2001.
Initially, the FSJ culture program had 125 placement sites in five federal states, accompanied by the Federal Association for Cultural Youth Education (BKJ). The first FSJ culture year (2007/2008) had 40 placement sites throughout Baden-Württemberg.
Representatives from various cultural institutions in Pforzheim and the surrounding area were present at an event on July 23, 2018, aimed at promoting the opportunity of a Voluntary Social Year in the field of culture. The event, held at the CityLab in the Town Hall Pavilion, provided insights into the activities of the placement sites in Pforzheim.
The FSJ culture program offers young people valuable insights and opportunities to actively participate in various fields of work in the cultural sector. Participants gain practical learning experiences in the cultural field, as well as assistance with career orientation. The program provides a valuable head start in knowledge and experience when entering studies or professional life.
The core goal of the FSJ culture is the acquisition of personal, social, professional, and methodological competencies. FSJers learn about project structures, practice responsible working and approaches, and can further develop their team and communication skills through the FSJ culture program.
Cultural Office Director Angelika Drescher honoured the graduates of the FSJ culture program at the event, presenting them with their certificates. The FSJers, who have become an integral part of the cultural landscape in Pforzheim, are now poised to make a difference in their chosen fields.
As the 2018/19 year approaches, the city of Pforzheim welcomes applications for the eight available FSJ culture positions. With a rich cultural heritage and a commitment to nurturing young talent, Pforzheim is an excellent choice for those seeking to gain valuable experience in the cultural sector.
