"Celebrating its return, Ratzer Records claims vinyl records last forever"
Ratzer Records & Beer Opens Its Doors in Stuttgart-Süd
After weeks of intense preparation, Ratzer Records & Beer, the iconic record store in Stuttgart, has officially reopened its doors. The store, located at Hauptstätter Straße 154 in the district of Stuttgart-Süd, is now more than just a store; it's a meeting place for music lovers.
The new owners, Arnulf Woock and Stéphane Clerc, are well-known figures in the local music scene. Arnulf, a spokesperson for concert promoter Musiccircus, and Stéphane, a DJ and curator at the About Pop Festival, were loyal customers of the store before taking over.
The grand opening event took place on September 26, with a soft opening for around 50 guests and an official opening with champagne and cake. Many regular customers have been eagerly awaiting the reopening of the store, which was previously operated by Brigitte and Karl-Heinz Ratzer for over 40 years.
Holger Vogt, a long-time customer, expressed his admiration for the new owners: "They already have stressful jobs, but they're pulling this off. They have my utmost respect." Stéphane Clerc, in response, recommended an album to Holger, which he found amusing: "Your record recommendations used to be neutral, now they have a sales pitch."
Agnes, Clerc's partner, expressed relief that the store is finally open: "It's a relief to see it all come together. We've put a lot of hard work into this, and it's great to see it being appreciated."
The store's new concept aims to preserve its essence while bringing fresh wind into it. Gone are the CDs, replaced by a selection of vinyl records and non-alcoholic beverages, including local beers. The store is now airy and inviting, with a seating area for customers to relax and enjoy their purchases.
Ratzer Records & Beer is open on Thursday from 4 PM to 8 PM, Friday from 11 AM to 10 PM, and Saturday from 11 AM to 8 PM. The opening party was just the beginning for Ratzer Records & Beers, with the disco ball set to shine again and more events planned in the future.
Andreas Kolbai, a former regular customer of the store in Paulinenstraße, appreciates the new atmosphere: "Vinyl has something special. Holding a record with a cover in your hand - that can't be compared to streaming music." With the new concept and events planned, Ratzer Records & Beer is poised to continue its legacy as a beloved destination for music lovers in Stuttgart.
