CDU gathering in Langst-Kierst Rhein-Ferre becomes the center of attention
In the heart of Langst-Kierst, a lively discussion took place recently, involving key local figures and residents, all gathered to discuss the future of the town's vital ferry service.
The ferry service, with its rich history dating back over 900 years, is considered indispensable by Mayor Christian Bommers for the residents of Langst-Kierst, including students, commuters, and those with daily medical visits. The service also plays a significant role in the lives of residents from Meerbusch and Düsseldorf.
Mayor Bommers, along with city and county council candidates Lydia Tittes and Sarah Kohtes, as well as neighborhood representative Ilona Appel and CDU party chief Werner Damblon, were all informed about the ferry situation and took suggestions from the residents. Participants had a direct exchange with Mayor Bommers and CDU representatives.
Lydia Tittes and Sarah Kohtes, the city and county council candidates, collected concerns from the participants, aiming to represent the community's voice in future discussions. Several guests from the Langst-Kierst citizen's association, "Rheincamping" campsite, and independent entrepreneurs also participated in the discussions.
The Rhine Railway has yet to make a definitive decision on the takeover of the ferry service, and discussions regarding this matter are ongoing. Mayor Bommers and Dr. Stephan Keller of Meerbusch and Düsseldorf respectively have requested the Rhine Railway to investigate a potential takeover of the ferry service.
Mayor Bommers is in close contact with Düsseldorf and the Rhine Railway to secure the over 900-year-old ferry connection. The city council, county council, neighborhood representatives, and the CDU party are actively engaged in these discussions.
Following the intense discussions, participants had opportunities for cool drinks and ice cream while exchanging ideas. The future of the ferry service remains a topic of interest and concern for the community, as they await the Rhine Railway's decision.
