CDS Examination Scheme for 2025: Examine Mark Distribution, Total Points and Penalty for Incorrect Answers
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is set to conduct the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exam 2025, a prestigious entrance examination for aspiring officers in the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA), and Officer Training Academy (OTA).
The CDS Exam 2025 will consist of three stages: a Written Test, a SSB Interview, and a Medical Examination.
The Written Test, an objective-type examination, will be conducted in offline mode. For the OTA, the written test has a total of 200 marks and a duration of 4 hours, covering English and General Knowledge. For IMA, INA, and AFA, the written test has a total of 300 marks and a duration of 6 hours, covering English, Elementary Mathematics, and General Knowledge.
The CDS Exam Pattern for OTA and IMA, INA, and AFA is straightforward. Each correct answer fetches +1 mark, while there is no negative marking for unattempted questions. However, if more than one answer is marked as correct, it will be considered as an incorrect response, deducting -0.33 marks per error.
The SSB Interview is the next stage, assessing an aspirant's officer-like attributes and overall suitability. The interview consists of two stages: Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) and Picture Perception & Description Test (PP&DT) in Stage I, and Interview, Group Testing Officer (GTO) Tasks, Psychology Tests, and Conference in Stage II.
Finally, the Medical Examination ensures fitness as per defense service requirements.
Preparation materials for the CDS Exam 2025 are readily available. The UPSC CDS Syllabus and Previous Year Question Papers can be downloaded from the official UPSC website.
