Station Casinos Expands Nevada Sportsbooks Portfolio
Casinos owned by Station preparing for sportsbook operations on Las Vegas Strip and two locations in Mesquite
Hop aboard the thrill ride as Station Casinos sets sights on managing three more off-site sportsbooks in the Silver State! Fresh off approval from the Nevada Gaming Control Board, the expansion is now in full swing. The final nod from the Nevada Gaming Commission at their April 24 meeting will seal the deal for sportsbooks at Treasure Island on the Vegas Strip and Mesquite's Casablanca Resort & Casino and Virgin River Hotel & Casino.
This grand expansion brings Station Casinos' sportsbook portfolio to a whopping 22 venues in Nevada, as per private counsel Marc Rubinstein's account. Excited for the launch, Jason Simbal, Station Casinos' director of race and sports analysis, reveals, "We're looking to launch sometime in May."
An interesting twist? Treasure Island's sportsbook employees will work for Station Casinos, while in Mesquite, the existing staff will continue under Mesquite Gaming's wing. Nevada Gaming Board Chair Kirk Hendrick addressed employee concerns, stating, "We're always happy to see the employees retained when possible, and when it comes to benefits, the same, if not enhanced."
Branding for these venues is all set, too. Treasure Island will proudly display "STN Sports at the Golden Circle," while both Mesquite casinos will boast the STN Sports banner. Simbal guarantees the experience at these fresh spots will be just as electrifying as other Station Casinos hotspots, including the Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch.
In-gaming wagering will be a part of the fun, but for now, it'll be available solely via the mobile app. Over-the-counter and kiosk wagering will roll out at a later date, once the new GAN system is under field trial.
Station Casinos has also secured a five-year deal for both Mesquite casinos, much like their other properties. But that's not all - the Board has recommended licenses for several gaming executives, including Travis Lunn, Sean Lanni, Christopher Foster, and more. These honchos will have their turn before the Gaming Commission later this month.
As for the Lucky Silver Gaming saga, things are coming to a close. The estate of the late Bruce Deifik, along with Michael Mixer and the Andrew Pascal Gaming Investment Trust, are set to transfer 37.9% of their interests to Lucky Silver Gaming LLC, pending Gaming Commission approval. This transfer will fully close the estate's business.
With these changes coming to the table, buckle up for an exciting ride as Station Casinos levels up its game in Nevada! Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the grand opening in May!
