Casino shooting suspect arrested after high-speed chase

Casino shooting suspect arrested after high-speed chase

Three "fugitive" suspects wanted by police for two victims at a Little Creek Casino in Washington state were arrested Wednesday afternoon.

Police began hunting the suspects as they fled in a car after a shooting occurred in the parking lot of a Shelton, Wash., casino around 3 p.m.

Officers with the Squasheen Tribal Police Department quickly established a description of the suspect's vehicle and began a pursuit in Mason County. The high-speed chase continued into nearby Thurston County.

Eventually, deputies from the Thurston County Sheriff's Office, along with Tribal Police, joined the pursuit.

Police successfully stopped the suspect's vehicle. Details of the arrest were unclear as of Wednesday.

Victim hospitalized

Both victims were shot around 3 p.m. In the casino parking lot. Both were taken to the emergency room of a local hospital. As of Wednesday evening, authorities had no updated information on details of her condition or injuries. The victim has not yet been identified.

First at 2:54 p.m., the Mason County Sheriff's Office said the shooting involved an injured victim, but when deputies arrived at the garage, they found two people shot to death.

The suspect could be charged in connection with the shooting and pursuit. Deputies have not announced what charges may be filed against the suspect. Authorities also did not immediately identify the three suspects or say whether they were injured.

No officers or officers are believed to have been injured in the incident.

The motive for shooting the two victims was initially unknown.

The casino is operated by the Squaxin Island Tribe and is located about 75 miles southeast of Seattle. The resort features gaming facilities, a 190-room hotel, Salish Cliffs Golf Club, Seven Bays Spa and the Skookum Creek Activity Center.

Following the arrest, Mason County Sheriff Derek Sanders released a statement on the department's Facebook page.

Well done everyone! I wish the victim a speedy recovery. "Sanders said.

A member of the public also thanked Sanders and police for arresting the shooting suspect.

"Chief Sanders thanks your staff for their continued great work," Clayton Bethea posted on Facebook.
