Casino Patron Files Lawsuit Against Mississippi Establishment for Unwarned Collision with Parking Barrier

In an unexpected turn of events, a high-profile casino patron, Lisa Paulk, has filed a lawsuit against the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, following an incident in the VIP parking garage on January 12, 2024.

Paulk, an Encore Players Club member, alleges that the casino's VIP parking garage was unsafe and that management failed to properly train its employees, leading to an accident that left her with injuries and emotional trauma.

According to the complaint, Paulk attempted to drive into the VIP parking garage, but her Encore Players Club rewards card failed to open the gate several times. When she sought help from a valet, she was instructed to walk through the barrier behind her daughter, who was driving the vehicle. However, the gate arm unexpectedly dropped, striking Paulk on the head.

The incident resulted in Paulk requiring neck surgery and allegedly causing her to suffer emotional trauma, a back injury, permanent physical impairment, and disfigurement. She is seeking damages for past and future medical bills, pain and suffering, mental anguish, future travel expenses, and other losses.

The lawsuit also contends that the casino knew the parking gate arm had been malfunctioning for some time and failed to provide adequate warning signs in the area. The complaint alleges that the property was unsafe, and the casino's management did not properly train its employees to handle such situations.

In response, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi and the three named property managers have denied wrongdoing. The casino's attorneys argue that Paulk's injuries and surgery were unrelated to the gate arm incident, attributing her medical issues more likely to preexisting conditions.

This case underscores allegations of unsafe conditions and insufficient employee training at the casino property, contributing to the injury of a VIP patron. The outcome of this lawsuit is eagerly awaited by both parties involved.

The incident involving a malfunctioning parking gate arm, which she claims caused her injuries and emotional trauma, also allegedly underscores the casino's negligence in maintaining the safety of casino games facilities. The case, currently in dispute, could have significant implications for casino-personalities and the broader casino-and-gambling industry.
