Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel Expands in North Carolina

In the western corner of North Carolina, where casinos are not as common, Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel is undergoing an extensive expansion. This expansion, led by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), is set to complete by the end of 2024, adding a hotel tower with 296 guest rooms to the property.
The Cherokee Nation Entertainment (CNE), a subsidiary of the Cherokee Nation Businesses (CNB), manages and operates the resort on behalf of the EBCI. Lumpy Lambert, the resort's general manager, has commented on the progress of the construction, stating that they have made significant progress over the last couple of years.
The expansion includes a 25,000-square-foot casino floor and a 10-table World Series of Poker room, which were completed in May. Additionally, the resort has added a poker room and other amenities in the spring of the year. The expansion also features an indoor pool and fitness center, a 9,600 square-foot spa, and a 12,000 square-foot rooftop restaurant. The spa includes six treatment rooms, a relaxation lounge, and a salon.
Sports betting is legal in 38 states nationwide, including North Carolina. In North Carolina, sports betting is legal on mobile and in person. However, sports betting is not legal in Georgia, while it is legal in Tennessee. The resort, located near Tennessee and Georgia, is poised to attract visitors from these states.
