In the gaming landscape of Massachusetts, a slight dip in revenue was observed among the state's commercial casinos from May to June 2024. According to figures published by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, the combined gross gaming revenue decreased from $105.4 million in May to $97.7 million in June.

Encore Boston Harbor, one of the three licensed casinos in the state, saw a minor decline in its share of the total revenue, dropping from 63% in June 2023 to just under 62% in June 2024. The casino's revenue fell by 0.2%, from $60.4 million in June 2023 to $60.2 million in June 2024.

Elsewhere in Massachusetts, the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe's Taunton Casino Welcome Center is undergoing significant expansion. The facility, which initially had 10 slot machines in January 2025, has rapidly grown to 200 machines by late July 2025. The casino hours have been extended to operate seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., and it recently received approval to serve alcohol. The tribe is seeking further city approval to expand slot machines up to 250.

This expansion is part of a phased resort plan, with the tribe aiming to formalize city agreements and secure new operational partners after the exit of a previous operator, Genting. The public rollout of detailed plans for the larger casino project is expected in early 2025.
