Cargo ship prohibited from dropping anchor.

An Italian-flagged cargo ship, the ATP Victoria, found itself in a predicament early Wednesday morning as it attempted to dock in Bremerhaven. At 03:50 AM, the ship experienced engine failure and a blackout, causing it to drift on the Weser.

The 212-meter-long vessel was eventually brought into the port by a tugboat around 05:10 AM. Despite the initial setback, there were no personal injuries or environmental damages reported as a result of the incident.

The repair work on the ATP Victoria has since been completed, and the cargo ship is now undergoing subsequent classification before it can leave Bremerhaven. The exact cause of the engine failure is still under investigation, with initial findings suggesting a technical malfunction in the engine control room.

For press inquiries, please contact Nastasja-Klara Nadolska or the Press Office of Bremen Police at 0421/362-12114. The Bremen Water Police are conducting further investigations into the cause of the engine failure to ensure the safety of all vessels in the area.

The ATP Victoria remains in Bremerhaven, and once the classification process is complete, it is expected to leave the port and resume its journey. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of regular maintenance and safety checks for all cargo ships.
