Career Counseling for Youth
In the heart of Kassel, a project is making a significant difference in the lives of young people. The Career Mentoring Project, run by AGiL, is a programme that offers support to volunteers who wish to make a positive impact in their community.
The project aims to assist young people, particularly those with migration or refugee backgrounds, in their vocational training searches. Mentors, drawn from local professionals and volunteers across various industries such as education, business, and social services, have been an integral part of the project for over a decade.
Mentorship in this project often extends beyond the commencement of an apprenticeship, with mentors continuing to provide guidance and support. They help with career orientation, writing applications, finding internships and apprenticeships, and preparing for job interviews. In addition, mentors cooperate with schools to train young people, preparing them for the challenges of the job market.
The demand for such mentors is high, and the Career Mentoring Project is actively seeking more life and work-experienced volunteers from Kassel and its region. Those interested can contact Brigitte Vogler at Tel.: 0561-1003 1275 or email: [email protected] for more information.
Volunteer mentors are integrated into a well-organised and professionally supported network. They receive compensation for their expenses and have access to regular meetings, networking events, and training to support them in their work. The project's website, www.ourwebsite/gesellschaft-und-bildung/jugendberufshilfe/berufspatenprojekt.php, provides more details about the project and the application process.
The Career Mentoring Project is funded by the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration, and it continues to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people in Kassel. By volunteering, you can be a part of this meaningful initiative and help shape the future of the next generation.
