In a courtroom drama that captured attention last week, a California jury has found rapper Cardi B not liable of assault allegations in a civil lawsuit filed by Emani Ellis. The lawsuit, which stemmed from an incident in 2018, has been a seven-year saga that recently saw a climactic conclusion.

Emani Ellis, a former building security guard, had sued Cardi B for alleged assault during an interaction between the women in a medical office hallway. Ellis claimed that Cardi B threw a shoe at her, causing a scratch on her face. However, Cardi B, who was pregnant at the time and on her way to see her obstetrician, denied the allegations under oath.

During the trial, Cardi B's candid and humorous courtroom testimony drew new attention to the case. Despite the scrutiny, Ellis criticized Cardi B's conduct on the stand as "totally unprofessional," citing her body language, body gestures, facial expressions, and disrespect for the court.

Cardi B expressed thanks to her lawyers, the jurors, and her supporters following the verdict. She also lamented that she missed her children's first day of school due to the trial. The rapper, who is in the middle of an album rollout, hopes to leave the trial behind.

Ron Rosen Janfaza, an attorney for Ellis, plans to file an appeal. Cardi B's courtroom testimony was live-streamed by Court TV and recirculated across social media, with her raw forehead from changing wigs becoming a topic of discussion.

Despite the trial's conclusion, Cardi B reacted with a sigh of relief to the verdict. The rapper was represented by the law firm Morgan & Morgan in the civil lawsuit involving breaches of the bodily injury agreement. With the trial now behind her, Cardi B can focus on her music and family.
